Utilising the pedal and early Irish harp, voice, electronics and percussion, Méabh McKenna (they/she) is a multi-instrumental sound artist from the East of Ireland.

Drawing on years of experimentation and collaboration, their live performances have evolved from traversing the eclectic worlds of traditional, classical, and early music, intuitively weaving them with contemporary and electronic elements.

Méabh McKenna is a harpist, vocalist, and multidisciplinary artist from the village of Moynalty in Co.Meath. They graduated in 2018 from DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama with a Bachelor in Music Performance, specialising in Pedagogy where they studied with mentor Denise Kelly MacDonald. Following a varied and active career as a performer, teacher, and session musician, they expanded their practice through the completion of an MFA in Art in the Contemporary World in the National College of Art and Design in 2024. Following this period of development, Méabh began performing as a solo artist on the Irish wire strung harp and pedal harp, integrating improvisation and electronics with traditional Irish song and melody, and using their research to explore the potentials of soundmaking through the harp in both a solo and collaborative context.

These experiments led to the formation of projects such as:

-Throwing Shapes with Gareth Quinn Redmond and Ross Chaney, which platformed the early Irish harp as a contemporary instrument for experimentation. Featuring on the Bandcamp homepage and listed among their Top Albums of 2025, they released their single self titled album on WRWTFWW Records.

-GEIS, a collaborative improvising group featuring Elaine Malone (guitar/bass, vocals) and Eleanor Myler (drums, vocals).

A passionate collaborative artist, Méabh has performed with artists such as Eimear Reidy, Ultan O Brien, Seamas Hyland, Donal Dineen, Banrion, Anna Clock, Vincent Moon, Megabog, Julie Byne, Aoife Nessa Francis, Maija Sofia, and Olan Monk. In 2026 they became a part of the posthumous Manchan Magan ‘Slí na Samhlaíochta’ project. They have featured in many appearances with performance artist Isadora Epstein and RTÉ Lyric Fm’s Ambient Orbit.
